Queen Marie of Romania's Children
Nearly 20 minutes of beautiful, vintage photography dating from the 1890s up until 1991.
It is difficult to tell the story of 6 beautiful, unique and intriguing individuals but I did my very best.
Queen Marie of Romania's children are:
King Carol II
Princess Elisabeta, Former Queen of Greece
Princess Marioara, or Maria, Queen of Yugoslavia
Prince Nicholae, or Nicholas, of Hohenzollern- Sigmaringen & Romania
Princess Ileana, formerly Arch Duchess of Austria, Mother Alexandra
And sweet little Prince Mircea who died much too soon.

Princess Margaret of Connaught was the grandmother of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece. She died of sepsis being 8 months pregnant with her 6 child. In announcing her death the Swedish Prime Minister Hjalmar Branting said: "the ray of sunshine at Stockholm Palace has gone out"

Why change the name to Haakon? Many norwegians gad the name Carl at that time. In my fam too. I suppose to make him more "norwegian". But he wasnt. He was Danish. She was british. Very strange indeed. We gave royal not from our country.. Only those married into it from the people made the royals somewhat norwegian. Or swedish.. etc.. I think people are fooled to think theres a choise. We dont have any. Its pushed upon us from the start. No voting was done.
Very unlucky mother. Her son Carol II, better not comment on him, nothing good to say about him. Her daughter Elizabeth, married to the king of Greece. He divorced her because he couldn't stand her. Actually, she betrayed her whole family collaborating with the Communists, to gain permission to get her personal riches out of the country, while King Michael and his mother Helena of Greece, left the country literally only with the clothes they were wearing! After that, no member of the family had any kind of relationship with her! And what to say about Mary of Yugoslavia? She was a lesbian.

Fun Fact for the Coronation: Her grandson King Harald V of Norway is the King most closely related to King Charles III.
And King Charles is named after king Haakon, the husband of Maud. His birth name was Carl of Denmark and queen Elizabeth referred to him as uncle Charles (though he was her grand uncle) He was also Charles’ godfather. Elizabeth and Haakon were by all account very close, and they visited each other every year.
Their only son; the future King Olav V of Norway was born in Sandringham and at birth he was 11th in line of the British throne after his cousins, aunts and mother. He was the second last grandchildren of King Edward VII.
And Olav look very much like their family doctor who helped her become pregnant. I wonder how he did that😉 Hm..

I agree to a certain degree. She was sooo beautiful even when getting older. Then she decided to trust a wellknown brazilian specialist for facial operation and now her face looks like she is always smiling. So sad, because there was no need! I've read about this doctor, to whom many wellknown woman went, but he was just no good and if I remember well, there where women who suit him afterwards.

This is all very well, except for the fact, none of these people are actually Greek; the first King came from Denmark and married a Russian girl and future Kings did the same and married North European princesses.

Greek was his first language. He was educated in Greece. He did his military service in Greece. He won an Olympic Gold medal for Greece. He was Greek head of state from 1964-74. He was married in Greece. His eldest children were born in Greece. He died in Greece and was buried with his family at Tatoi. He was a Greek in every fibre of his being and was proud to be so and how fucking dare you say otherwise. My parents came to Britain in the 1950s and I was born here at the end of the decade. On your racist reasoning I'm not British. Actually by birth, loyalty and committment I am deeply and proudly British.
